True fashion is always a showcase of your individuality. It does the unexpected and doesn’t bow to conventions. Sonam Kapoor stayed true to the liberating, freewheeling spirit of fashion at the Cannes Film Festival 2018. The actor ditched predictable gowns and pants suits, instead opting to surprise everyone with a dreamy ivory lehenga by London-based Australian couturiers, Ralph & Russo. A romantic mix of old and new, the voluminous skirt, the dramatic floor-grazing sleeve of the cropped blouse and the ethereal leafy embroidery gave it a refreshing, global feel. The newlywed looked stunning in the attire, which was beautifully teamed with middle-parted hair styled into a no-fuss plait. Her traditional hair accessory, a beautiful naga jadai, invoked a vintage princess bride vibe. We also loved that Sonam showed off the beautiful mehendi that covered her hands, which could have been tricky to pull off with a western gown. Also, the kohl-lined eyes and restrained makeup with a touch of refreshing pink on the lips perfectly complemented her attire. What do you think of Sonam celebrating Indianness with a contemporary twist at the prestigious festival?
